Let me tell you a story.
Some time ago, before I knew how to make character sheets, I had a character sheet fetish that probably still persists. I liked finding new character sheets and wanted to try them all out. After a while I decided I wanted to make my own sheet, because I never could find one that was ‘just right.’ Well, eventually I found a couple sheets that I really liked — namely SunRainStudios and Mad Irishman.
I tried to get base-line source code for these files, because I pretty much liked them as is with maybe a few touch ups. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed this code and thought to myself, “Shoot. What now?” I got a trial copy of Adobe InDesign and started to try my own out. The first take was pretty horrid; I wont lie. But soon I started taking inspiration from those I named above and learned the method of spacing, white space and took a few courses in design to further my design desires. Needless to say I purchased InDesign and still think it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made — I love this software, even if it is a little bit difficult to start out.
Now, I want to go one step further and share my designs with you! Below you’ll find a link to my Pathfinder RPG Character sheet; It comes in Adobe InDesign CS4 .indd file.
Please make sure you follow all guidelines for the creative commons license — I want to see what you guys use my work on.

I saw your post on the Paizo forum and came over here to take a look. I appreciate that you’re making the source for you charsheet available — I’m a big fan of FOSS so I consider this a step in the right direction.
I don’t have or use InDesign, so it doesn’t directly benefit me, but I can see other people working on their own charsheets and perhaps one day I’ll use those… So it’s good all around.
Thanks for your support!
Thank you very much, I really needed this!!!
I don’t suppose there’s a chance of the InDesign files being in an older format? I myself only have CS2 and my friend only has CS3. While I’ve got enough use for CS2, it’s not so much that I actually feel like shelling out for an upgrade.
Cool of you to release the InDesign file; hopefully other folks will do some cool stuff with it.
Try the file I uploaded in CS3:

Thanks, this is extremely exciting, since it’s possible to get PCGen to export XML, and Indesign can import XML. This will be a big help in getting an automatically calculated character sheet that also looks great and can be customized the way I like it.
Glad I could help.
This is fantastic! I got to this blog from JamesTheBard’s Adobe Form version of this sheet.
Having both InDesign and Acrobat I’m pumped to try editing this sheet and making my own form. Someday I’ll be able to make my own!
Now I have a whole slew of questions you can answer if you aren’t too fatigued from the swine.
Was it very hard figuring out how to lay this up?
Did you use other sheets for reference on what you thought would look best?
And last, I noticed it has the grid up on the indesign file, did you use it to help you space the lines?
Am I just being dense, or is there no way to indicate the multiple BABs that your character gets at levels 6+? Also, one improvement I’d like to see is for some of the ability modifier boxes with the related ability type as a watermark — similar to what you have done with the CMD modifiers.
Apart from those two observations, VERY cool char sheet. Thanks for the hard work!
